Engineering Manager

The Company:

Golden State Utility Co., a subsidiary of Quanta Services, is a General Contractor specializing in installing telecommunications, joint-trench, power and transportation systems, utility locating as well as other client-specific infrastructure systems throughout the western states. 

Job Description:

Primary job responsibility is designing, developing and overseeing many telecom infrastructure projects simultaneously.  Their role is central to ensuring safe, timely and well-resourced completion of project designs in many areas.  As needed, interacts with external agencies such as Clients, Inspectors and Permit Agencies.

Job Duties:

• Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for contractors;
• Lead teams of other engineers, perhaps from other sister companies;
• Review and approve project drawings;
• Use a range of design computer packages for designing projects and undertaking complex calculations;
• Attend public meetings and displays to discuss projects;
• Adopt all relevant requirements around issues such as building permits, environmental regulations, sanitary design and safety on all work assignments;
• Manage budgets and other project resources;
• Develop long-term relationships with clients, vendors and employees, ensuring continued success and stability.
• Provide accurate feedback and reports to Executives / Area Managers.

Job Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of construction scheduling and construction law;
• Working knowledge of surveying techniques, equipment standards and procedures;
• Must have the ability to prepare and develop blueprints and as-builts;
• Excellent communication skills – both oral and written;
• Strong planning/organization and time management skills;
• Computer skills in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook;
• Ability to travel – Must have a valid driver license.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years experience in telecommunication design.

Fiber Optic Splicer / Technician

Golden State Utility Co. is looking for an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer/Technician for an in-house position.  Jobs will vary within California – travel is a must.  

Description:

·        •Install and remove Fiber Optic Cable

·        •Perform cabling, installs, splicing and testing

·        •Trouble shooting

Job Requirements:

·        •Must have 4 + years experience in ISP/OSP fiber splicing;

·        •Knowledge of operating an OTDR;

·        •Ability to travel – Must have a valid driver license;

·        •Self starter and ability to problem solve.
