Fiber Optic Splicer / Technician

Golden State Utility Co. is looking for an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer/Technician for an in-house position.  Jobs will vary within California – travel is a must.  

Description:

·        •Install and remove Fiber Optic Cable

·        Perform cabling, installs, splicing and testing

·        Trouble shooting

Job Requirements:

·        Must have 4 + years experience in ISP/OSP fiber splicing;

·        Knowledge of operating an OTDR;

·        Ability to travel – Must have a valid driver license;

·        Self starter and ability to problem solve.

Job Description:

 

Primary job responsibility are to be heavily involved with planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of occupational health, safety, and environmental programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for our employees.  Assuring that each work site complies with applicable federal and state health, safety and environmental laws, regulations, and standards, focusing on the construction industry (1926) specific and general industry (1910) standards.  Coordinates with management team to achieve planned safety goals, as well as regulatory compliance requirements and on occasion interacts with external agencies such as OSHA, DOT with the support of our Quanta Services’ Corporate Safety Department.  Supports our safety and health initiatives that are developed by being a proactive member of our safety team, in a committee friendly environment.

Job Duties:

 

  • Develops position that fosters the ability to be a resource for solutions and technical safety questions from the field.
  • Conducts site safety observation to maintain compliance with all Federal (OSHA), state, and local safety and health regulations.
  • Assists field management with compliance with Federal (OSHA), state, and local safety and health regulations.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled safety training for all employees.
  • Coordinates efforts to conduct safety audits to evaluate effectiveness of our safety processes.
  • Leads and participates in the incident investigations to determine the causation and all required corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Participates in a safety and risk management program known as “Project Safety.”
  • Provides reports and consistent feedback to Managers and Executives by using high level communication skills.

 

Job Requirements:

 

Must have knowledge or training in the following:

 

  • Occupational health, safety and environmental compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and standards;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of delivering hands on health, safety and environmental training;
  • Strong commitment to achieve a total safety culture;
  • Ability to develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive health and safety accident  prevention programs;
  • High energy level and enthusiasm;
  • Strong level of discretion, professionalism and attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written;
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent computer skills in all Microsoft Office based programs;
  • Ability to handle confidential information;
  • Ability to work a 75% travel schedule;
  • Sense of urgency & ability to meet deadlines (self-directed).

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years experience in construction safety/management, focusing on Construction Industry Standards 1926 and General Industry Standards 1910.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and DOT regulations.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • High energy level and enthusiasm;
  • Strong level of discretion, professionalism and attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written;
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills;
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to handle confidential information;
  • Ability to work a 75% travel schedule;
  • Sense of urgency & ability to meet deadlines (self-directed).

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years experience in construction safety/management;
  • OSHA 500 Certified;
  • CPR/First Aid Instructor;
  • Sexual Harassment Certified Instructor;
  • Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and DOT regulations.
