Golden State Utility Co.'s safety program begins with each employee receiving a copy of the Safety and Health Guide which comes enclosed in all new employee packages. All new employees are required to read, understand, and obey the practices of the guide, and to view our Employee Safety Orientation Video. All new employees are also required to undergo drug testing. When our new employees are ready to begin work, our supervisors will schedule them on a daily basis with more experienced fellow employees until the new employees training period is complete.
Golden State Utility Co. conducts quarterly safety meetings with all supervisors, foremen, and management personnel to review accident reports and address any new specific safety questions, procedures, or updates. We also conduct monthly mandatory safety meetings for all employees to attend. We view different safety video films and address any new safety questions or problems. Our supervisors and foremen hold weekly tailgate meetings where all employees must attend. On a daily basis, job site supervisors, foremen, and employees make job site safety inspections, to ensure the safety of their work area before conducting any work for that day.
Accidents on the job are immediately reported to the supervisor and foremen on the job. The supervisor or foremen will complete and submit an accident report to the office. The office distributes a copy to our Safety Manager, Dispatcher, and Field Superintendents upon receipt. When
subcontracting any work, we require our subcontractors to comply with our safety program. They are required to attend all of the above mentioned meetings, are subject to all safety inspections that our own employees are, and required to maintain a safe work area, as described in the subcontractor's contract with Golden State Utility Co.
